Army commissions first male nurse in history
New York reports the Army has commissioned its first male nurse, Edward L T Lyon of Kings Park New York age 25 as a lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corps. Lyon 6 feet 5 inches and 185 pounds already a registered nurse who led surgical and psychiatric wards at Kings Park General Hospital and served as an anesthetist at Nassau Hospital Mineola Previously only female nurses were commissioned though some enlisted men served in the Nurse Corps Lyons joins about 3600 commissioned women in the corps.

The verdict awarded 10 416 dollars for 13.22 acres taken and damages to 43 acres remaining, against appraisers 5 167 dollars.
