Undersheriff Dean Driscoll cited Fined-Leon Wells of Lawrence for speeding 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. Wells fined 5 dollars plus costs. A Chippewa Hills shooting incident involving a 15-year-old youth firing at a home and another boy is under investigation with no arrests or signed complaints. The Ottawa area Extension Council election date is corrected to October 25, with the meeting at Sacred Heart school in Nor Ottawa.
A noon yesterday collision at Fourth and Walnut involved a westbound 1956 Mercury driven by Cecil W. Carter and a northbound 1950 Buick driven by Elmer A. Hull. Damages were about 300 dollars for the Mercury and 150 dollars for the Buick. Separately, Charles S. Bedgood was fined 25 dollars for trespassing in the Elm street area after pleading guilty. Amos S. Wamble forfeited a 30 dollar speeding bond after a 50 mph in a 30 mph zone citation.
Funeral services for G A Tewell who died Tuesday in Fairview Kansas will be held Friday at 10 30 a m in the Fairview Baptist church. Tewell formerly served as high school principal at Williamsburg with Rev Charles Minsch and Rev Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Caney Kansas.

New York Republican National Chairman Leonard W. Hall quoted President Eisenhower as expressing confidence before his heart attack that Republicans will win next year’s presidential election. Hall spoke at a party dinner and shared his own optimism while noting it would be inappropriate to speculate on a 1956 bid.
The Perfect Circle Co said at an emergency meeting it will not close its ridt beset New Castle foundry. UAW CIO demanded bargaining across plants in New Castle Hagerstown and Richmond. National guardsmen were deployed as city declared limited emergency after yesterday’s rioting that left eight shot.
In an eastern Indiana town of 18 000 residents National Guard units blocked streets around a struck foundry. Six hundred guardsmen with rifles and walkie talkies patrolled, two half tracks with weapons, and two tanks at the New Castle Armory. The plant remained closed and no pickets were posted by the union.
Senior High students stage a morning Hit Parade program featuring 16 performers in record pantomime numbers. Ballots cast yesterday chose the program selections. the top tune, Playmates, was pantomimed by Betty Salmon, Connie Reed and Carolyn West.
