Wall Street slides as Dow sinks near 8,000 in midday trade
At noon on Wall Street the Dow Jones index fell 128.73 to 7,655.96 after dipping as much as 171 points in the morning. S&P 500 declined 22.52 to 980.08 and the Nasdaq dropped 89.81 to 1,525.17. NYSE composite slipped 8.63 to 489.53 and AMEX composite fell 12.44 to 597.03. Local stocks listed include Casey's, Comm Fed, O'Reilly Auto, WalMart, Wendy's. Grain prices at Ottawa Co-op and Franklin County Farm Services showed mixed changes with wheat around 2.49-2.55 and soybeans near 4.64.
