County Official's Appeal Dismissed by Kansas Supreme Court
Henry Scheidegger, former Jackson County treasurer, had his appeal from a conviction for making false entries in his books dismissed by the Kansas Supreme Court. He was sentenced to not more than seven years in prison about a year ago, but failed to file a timely brief. He remains free on a $2,000 bond.

On August 9 1955 Congress amended the Armed Forces Reserve Act of 1952 and the Universal Military Training and Service Act. The impact depends on your choice and age with active service and Ready Reserve participation varying by enlistment timing and service branch. Plan No 1 offers six years with two years active service and three years in Ready Reserve plus one year in Standby Reserve. Plan No 2 covers eight years with an early four month active tour and related requirements.
