Drunk Max E. Hamilton of Wheat Ridge Colorado was arrested on a drunk charge in the 100 block of East Third Street. He was fined 25 dollars in police court. A car driven by Mrs A Carpenter of 304 East lith struck a curb and a parking meter, causing about 45 dollars damage to the car and 15 dollars to the meter. Everett Oakman 27 near Richter escaped from Osawatomie state hospital and was returned to care. L E Palmer 35 of Harper Kansas was picked up on a state warrant for failing to pay a motel bill and released after restitution. Ruby Grace Geer filed for divorce from Donald Ralph Geer citing gross neglect and extreme cruelty. John M Gremminger of Waverly was fined five dollars for a no passing zone violation. Ottawa High School seniors are selling UNICEF Christmas cards for a nonprofit drive. Franklin County Shrine Club held a party with 25 members and planned monthly meetings from January 1956. The club will host a Christmas party December 19 at Ottawa Country Club. Jerry Smith joined. Liberty Community heard a musical program with several performers and slides on Europe. Mrs H C Britt of Iowa, formerly of Ottawa, visited several days.

Wheat crop shows need of moisture in Kansas
TOPEKA The condition of the 1956 Kansas wheat crop is beginning to decline due to increasing need for moisture. Federal and state departments of agriculture said today that lack of top soil moisture has hindered development of secondary roots and additional moisture is urgently needed to condition the crop for the winter.
