Group to build ethanol plant in Garnett Kansas
East Kansas Agri Energy voted unanimously to pursue an ethanol facility in Garnett's industrial park. Colorado consultant Mike Bryan outlined 20 or 30 million gallon capacities, with costs of 33 million or 42 million dollars and a 12 month build after funding, creating 32 to 38 jobs and boosting local demand for corn and milo.

Signs for US-50 Business to be removed
KDOT will remove US-50 Business signs in Franklin County starting June 18 to aid the US-59 detour around Ottawa. The US-50 bridge over I-35 was removed in April and a second bridge over US-59 will be taken out this summer, with completion by November 1. Detour impact should last about 24 hours.
