Weigand will not seek re election to Franklin County post
Franklin County Commissioner Tom Weigand announced he will not run again in November. The Second District member has served five years on a five member board since 1998. He cites time constraints and a desire to focus on his real estate business in Overland Park and farm work near Homewood. He plans to remain budget director for the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and to back Sen. Robert Tyson. Filing for the open seats is due by noon June 12. He praises county progress, land-use planning needs, and the Highway Improvement Plan he helped launch.
