Farm export numbers fall in 1998 outlook
U SDA lowered 1998 farm export projections by about 1 billion dollars due to the Asian crisis and more foreign competition in corn and wheat. Gains with Canada and Mexico partially offset losses, with total exports now seen at 55 billion, the lowest since 1995. Corn and wheat export values dropped to 4.3 and 4.1 billion respectively.
