Health at Home helps Franklin County homebound seniors
Franklin County Extension Service and Mid-America Nutrition secure a PATH grant for Health at Home a 12 week program to boost fitness and nutrition among homebound older residents. The study cites USDA and NIA findings that resistance training boosts leg strength walking speed and stair climbing even in octogenarians and non exercisers with supplements enhancing intake when activity rises. It also offers practical problem solving tips and contacts for more information through the extension office.
