United Way STEM program expands with Lego and 3D design

The United Way of Franklin County partners with Ottawa Library and the Ottawa Community Arts Council to offer a FREE STEM LEGO Robotics Club meeting monthly at the Carnegie Building. Mentors include Jeff Kelley Lori Kelley Stan Grigsby Gene Beauchamp Leigh Hanson and Derrick Larcom who also teaches a 3D printing design class. sessions run 10 am to noon on selected Saturdays May through October with registration via united.way.cf.franklin co gmail.com or (785) 418-2015.

United Way Receives Kansas Volunteer Commission Grant in Kansas

The Kansas Volunteer Commission awarded nearly $80,000 to four Kansas volunteer connector groups under the 2018 Volunteer Generation Fund. The funding will boost capacity to recruit and manage skilled volunteers and enhance the infrastructure of volunteer connectors, strengthening agencies like United Way and ECKAN to recruit and retain volunteers.
