Blaze at station injures two firemen in Inglewood
In Inglewood California two firemen were injured when a 31 year old fire engine burst into flames at the fire station during standby service. Damage to the station and equipment was estimated at 7000 to 10000 dollars. Fireman Charles Phillips aged 26 suffered first second and third degree burns on hands and arms while engineer Harold Kingery aged 41 sustained slight burns. Chief Bacil Roberts said the burns occurred while cleaning a gasoline sediment bowl on the old engine.

Flood Swells Arkansas River in Colorado and New Mexico
The Corps of Engineers reported heavy rains in Colorado and Northern New Mexico swelling the Arkansas and Canadian rivers. Arkansas River gauge at Nepesta Colo washed away after reaching flood stage as flow exceeded 20 000 cubic feet per second. Conchas Reservoir near Tucumcari rose six feet from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and kept rising.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie A. Bruce of Wellsville who died May 17 will be at McVey-Dengel Mortuary tomorrow at 2 p m. She formerly lived with her sister Mrs. Harry Thomas of Ottawa and is survived by several sisters in Wells ville Garnett Beatrice Nebr and Cuya hoga Falls Ohio along with nieces and nephews. Charles Ralph Vickers aged 46 died last evening ten miles southwest of Wellsville after a three month illness He was born December 19 1908 at Kaplinger Mill Mo and lived many years in the Wellsville area Surviving are wife Ruth daughters Audrey Faye and Donna Jean and parents Mr and Mrs Charles Vickers Le Loup plus several brothers and sisters Funeral will be Saturday at 2 p m at Wellsville Methodist church with Rev. Paul Leslie officiating and burial in Wellsville cemetery.

Man Found Dead in Car Near Lawrence
Workmen on the Kansas Turnpike bridge over the Kaw River discovered a man’s body in a parked car about a mile north of Lawrence. Sheriff Billy Hodson identified him as Larry Hunt, 21, of Salina. Officials said death appeared natural and an autopsy will be conducted at a Lawrence mortuary.
