In a national survey, most sexually active teens say they lost their virginity too soon but not due to peer pressure. Fifty four percent of those who have had sex think they should have waited.

The poll by Rolafda syndicated talk show shows sexually active teens set 17 as the best age to begin intercourse, two years above the age they first had sex. Most cited personal desire (78%) rather than peer or partner pressure, with 90% denying peer pressure and 83% saying TV or movies exert no pressure.
