JOAN ISTAS GARNETT describes All-Star Dairy in Ottawa turning pasteurized milk into cheese through stirring curds and whey, draining whey, cutting curds, shredding, salting, aging ten days, and packaging 40 pound blocks. The whey is dried and sold as livestock feed.
The 15th annual livestock judging school and field day will be held at Russell McGrew farm in Linn County four miles north of Mound City on Highway 7. Registration starts at 9 am with sessions through 2:30 pm, awarding trophies to top individuals in adult, FFA, and 4-H classes and to top county and FFA chapter teams. Public invited. bring a sack lunch. drinks provided.

Dave and Mrs Bueiner Alma serve as advisors. 1978 79 officers include Lane Chase El Dorado president Elaine Mayo Garden City vice president Susan Schlickhau Haven secretary treasurer Jackie Shafer Leon Central director Robin Rusk Sun City western director and new queen. KJLA sponsors awards at the State Fair and field days and will sponsor a showmanship contest at the Kansas National Junior Livestock Show in Wichita this fall.
