Chanute Man Hooks State Record Channel Catfish

A Chanute man, Rick Barnow, set a Kansas state record with a 36 pound 3 ounce channel catfish from the Mined Land Wildlife Area south of Pittsburg. A friend caught a 29 pounder on the same trip. Barnow declined to reveal exact fishing spots, and the fish was weighed at Bookovers Bait Shop in Chanute after reaching capture on May 3. The record holder plans to have the fish displayed at Cabela's aquarium in Kansas City.
