Great Bend Kansas police search for burglars who stole 450 dollars from a safe at a food market. Owner Clem Weiser reported the burglary after discovering the break in this morning. Police Chief James May said entry was gained by breaking a lock off the front door.
Adm Arthur W Radford told Congress that the foreign military aid program enables the United States to reduce the total number of troops on active duty. He said the aid program is integral to the Defense Department plan and credited allied strength built over five years for easing U S requirements. He testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee led by Senator George of Georgia during hearings on the Eisenhower admin 3.0 billion dollar aid request for the year starting July 1.
Eighteen year old William Spearman drowned in a cattle watering hole at BAMBERG South Carolina after a companion bet him a quarter he would not jump it. Coroner J. T. Brandenburg ruled the death accidental with three youths fleeing as Spearman disappeared. No inquest will be held.
Funeral services for Chester Bryan were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Towner’s Funeral Chapel with Rev. R. B. Craig officiating. Firefighters battled a blaze in Denver that started in a boxcar loaded with roofing paper rolls. Assistant Chief Art Becker said a cigarette likely was tossed into the car before shipment from Kansas City last Tuesday, allowing the paper to smolder for four days and 650 miles to Denver.

Two unidentified men forced entry into a Chetopa loan firm operator's home late last night bound wife Hester Weber to the bed with a blouse and escaped with about 350 dollars in cash and 500 dollars in checks.
