School Aid Bill Criticized by Kansas Leaders

Lewis accused the GOP-led body of sacrificing education and taxpayers for a balanced budget and large rainy day balance. Lowther warned that the district equalization aid changes would harm education quality. The Ottawa Weather Service station logged 67 in the day and 50 in the morning with a county forecast of cloudy skies and a 60 percent rain chance tonight, 30 percent Friday.

Reagan orders Libyan diplomats to leave United States
President Reagan, backed by oil supply and fearing Libyan plans against enemies, gives Libya five working days to exit the United States. Libyan mission chief Ari el Houderi says his country is wronged but will comply. The State Department asks Libya to close its People’s Bureau, a step short of full break in relations. Libya is a major oil supplier to the U.S., with about 640,000 barrels daily, but officials say the move won’t disrupt the $12 billion annual oil trade.
