Anderson County wreck injures deputy and two motorists
A sheriff's deputy Jerry Davis and another motorist were treated and released from Anderson County Hospital after an 11 a.m. collision on U.S. 59 when undersheriff Max Skelton’s vehicle was rear ended by Larry Wood of Milburn Oklahoma. A second crash about an hour later near Franklin County involved Billy Cox of Ottawa hitting Jeffry Olson of Garnett, with passenger Gordon Olson hospitalized. Kansas Highway Patrol noted Cox could not avoid Olson's vehicle due to the previous crash. Skelton reportedly had possible injuries but refused on-scene treatment.

The city will lower flags at the new law enforcement center on Tuesday to honor Rev. William Weber a former police chaplain. Weber died Thursday and his funeral is set for Tuesday afternoon according to Chief Jeff Herrman.

Tornado Toll Hits Crawford County South of Columbus
Three people were killed as a tornado struck south of Columbus around 6 p.m. One death occurred when a mobile home was destroyed three miles south of Columbus. The other fatalities were in a home near Crestline. Dozens injured were treated at Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg and Hospital District No. 1 in Crawford County. Temporary shelters opened in Mulberry, Arma and Girard as residents sought safety.
