CHADD Recognition Honors Area Educators in Franklin County
Franklin County CHADD honored educators for work with CHADD students. Recipients included Donna Powers Santa Fe Trail school psychologist Tammy Thomas son Pomona fourth grade teacher Vicki Cain Quenemo preschool paraprofessional Nile Peterson Garfield second grade teacher and Debbie Reser Quenemo teacher. Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation funds eight $1000 grants for science classroom technology across Kansas and western Missouri. Eligible schools submitted proposals to enrich science departments, with winners including Brookville Grade School, Butcher Children's School, Fairfield East Elementary, Northview Elementary, West Indianola Elementary, Grant Elementary, Sante Fe Elementary, and McKinley Elementary.

Williamsburg Students Earn Top Ratings at State Music Festival
Williamsburg High School music department sent students to the state festival at Tyler Middle School. Thirteen students earned top rating of I with Kelley Bethell and Pete Heiniger each achieving two I ratings. Participants earning I ratings spanned mixed ensemble, trumpet and vocal solos. N ratings went to several soloists and ensembles, including Lynn Turner and Amanda McCay. Regional and state events covered classes 1 through 6A with solos, small ensembles and large groups, drawing participants from multiple area schools.
