Tribute to Tito Draws Thousands in Belgrade Funeral Preparations
Yugoslavia prepared for a state funeral after President Josip Broz Tito died in Ljubljana. His body was moved by special train to Belgrade with seven days of national mourning. Tito, born May 7 1892, led Yugoslavia and the non aligned movement, and his death leaves a rotating presidential leadership to manage the republics and provinces. Foreign leaders and President Carter praised his world role while the new collective government tables a transition. In London, Arab gunmen holding 18 or 19 hostages at the Iranian Embassy resumed talks as the siege entered its sixth day.

U S Halts Cuban Visa Office After Havana Clash
The United States will close its visa office in Cuba citing an intolerable situation after a Friday melee that left 15 injured and 380 Cubans stranded inside the Havana mission. The move ends legal Cuban immigration to the U S while the Mariel sea lift remains unaffected, bringing more than 12 600 Cubans to Florida since mid April. State Department said Cuba bears responsibility for delays affecting former political prisoners seeking visas, while Granma labeled the accusation a lie and claimed the gathering was a U S provocation.
