The Kansas Livestock and Reporting Service shows Franklin County corn farming shrinking. In 1974 26,300 acres were planted with 35.8 bushels per acre yielding 580,200 bushels. In 1975 a drop to 20,000 acres, 48.1 bushels per acre, and 721,400 bushels produced. In 1976, plantings rose to 20,600 acres but yields fell to 40.4 bushels per acre, totaling 570,000 bushels.
