Area Rivers Fall As County Recovers From Flooding
Area drying out as the Marais des Cygnes river drops from flood levels after three days out of its banks. At 8:30 a.m. the river stood 19.3 feet at the Main Street bridge while repairs continue on damaged county roads and bridges. One bridge was completely washed away southwest of the LeLoup interchange and must be replaced under new state rules. Ground moisture must recede before salvage of steel and wood deck is possible.
