Panty raid knocks Knoxville dean unconscious
About 500 male students at the University of Tennessee staged a panty raid on girls dormitories. Assistant dean Charles R. Burchett was knocked unconscious when a ladder toppled from a window. Campus Police Chief C. Jones was struck but not injured. The raid spanned all dorms. several women donated clothing souvenirs.

Western Kansas Receives Scattered Thunderstorm Moisture
Western Kansas soaked by scattered storms last night with totals up to 1.40 inches at Dodge City and hail up to an inch. Loretta reported light hail as moisture varied, leaving the southwest dry. Forecaster Tom Arnold said the rain should end soon in the west, with isolated showers possible and cooler northeast tonight and warmer northwest tomorrow. Low temperatures ranged from the 30s to near 60, while highs were 70s to 80s, and additional rainfall amounts were pieced from several towns across the 24 hour period.

Two Civil Air Patrol planes from Albuquerque hunted the Navajo reservation near Toadiena north of Gallup for a missing Navy jet. Indians reported hearing an explosion early Friday. Kirtland Air Force Base C45s were expected in the area later.
