Tornado damages farms in southwestern Kansas

A tornado touched down five miles northwest of Kin​sley, damaging five equipment buildings at a farm and lifting a house off its foundation in Edwards and Pawnee counties. A stock trailer and an oil tank were moved, with no injuries reported. A brief tornado in Barton County caused no damage. Hail was reported across Kansas.

Kansas spelling bee winner credits family legacy

Kendra Frazier, 8th grade Altamont, won the All Kansas Spelling Bee beating 98 rivals at Washburn University. She spelled "callow" and "noisome" to claim the title, saying she did it for her late sisters Angela and Erica Frazier. The win leads to the National Spelling Bee on June 13.
