Old Santa Fe Hospital Demolition Underway in Ottawa
The historic Santa Fe Hospital near the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks is being razed after owner Ed Jukes filed for a demolition permit. Jukes, who runs National Sign Company in Ottawa, said the roof was in bad shape and he could not sell the building. The city has no plans to intervene. The hospital, opened in 1888 for railroad employees, was not on the National Historic Register and had been unused except for storage by National Sign.
