NCAA Women’s Regional Results and Final Four Pairings

The NCAA women’s tournament produced regional winners Notre Dame and Purdue with scores from the Mideast and Midwest regions while Connecticut and Louisiana Tech fell in the Mideast. In the West, Southwest Missouri State beat Washington for a Final Four bid. Central Heights batters sweep Jayhawk Linn opener

The Central Heights base ball team opened its season with a doubleheader sweep at Garst Field, 12-2 and 11-0. Senior Kyle Bentley tossed a one hitter in game one with seven strikeouts, while Raymond Geist and Randall Sharp led the bats with multi hit games. Geist struck out 12 in game two as Central Heights moved to 2-0 and heads to Osawatomie Monday at 4 30 pm.

OU Sweeps KCAC Awards With Herron and Eastland

Ottawa University players Dustin Herron and Aaron Eastland swept KCAC weekly honors. Herron hit .539 across seven hits in four games with nine RBIs, five runs, two doubles and three steals. Eastland pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing two hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk, earning two wins over Friends and Bethany.

Wellsville native Emily Bloss of Emporia University led the Lady Hornets to a 29 2 season and South Central Regional appearance while setting school marks in steals and free throws. She averaged 20.6 points per game to top the MIAA and was a national Kodak All American selection among 10 players nationwide.
