The Franklin County Convention and Tourism Board gains approval to advertise for 30 days for a visitors center near K-68 and I-35. Bids open by end of April, with construction planned to finish by year end. The project, funded by a state grant, aims to attract long distance travelers and bring visitors to downtown Ottawa without local tax dollars.
Franklin County Commissioners pressed department heads to cut costs to cover a 250000 to 300000 revenue gap caused by lower interest income.
