California Supreme Court Rules Boy Scouts Not Covered by Civil Rights Laws

The California Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the Boy Scouts are a private selective organization not a business and may set policies excluding gays agnostics and atheists. The decision upholds past denials of roles to a homosexual adult and to two agnostic youths seeking entry as Eagle Scouts, contrasting with a New Jersey ruling that scouts are covered by civil rights law.
