Walter Pleasant 86 retired attorney and longtime Ottawa resident died last evening at Newton hospital after surgery He and Mrs Pleasant moved to the Presbyterian Home at Newton 18 months ago He served as Ottawa mayor and was in the Kansas legislature Surviving are his wife and nieces and nephews Funeral services Thursday at 2 pm at Lamb Funeral Home Interment in Brown County Cemetery.

Ottawa University hosts stormy religion in radio and television session

A number of attendees braved yesterday’s storm to join Ottawa University’s religion in radio and television conference. Roy Madsen of New York led the event with radio work for the American Baptist Convention while R Edwin Brown of the University of Kansas directed demonstrations. Out-of-town ministers and local Ottawans filled the program, with Ruth Lathrop and Dr W D Bem mels in charge.
