Macau Firm Buys Unfinished Carrier For Floating Park
An obscure Macau based company Chong Lot allegedly bid twenty million dollars for the Ukrainian owned Varyag, an unfinished 33 600 ton aircraft carrier in the Black Sea. Analysts say the deal signals broader China links as Macau hovers toward 1999 handover. The contract bars military use and removal of warship building equipment though questions remain about Chong Lot’s backers and ownership.
