City considers planning board changes and variances

SPLIT continued from pages in a legal publication notes a 20 day waiting period and potential action within about 25 days. Because variances go to the planning commission with a set meeting schedule the process may take six to eight weeks before reaching the City Commission. The commission has named John Verssue and Laura Ansley to the appeals board with a third member to be chosen by the planning commission. If city county agreement allows planning decisions beyond city limits the zoning appeals board could expand to five members. The board of Zoning Appeals granted two variances: a rear deck at 422 W 17th and a front landing at 1029 W Sixth closer to the property lines than allowed.
