Old Mount Hope School Burned In 1955 Fire
A fire at the old Mount Hope school on Oregon Road was likely caused by lightning. Fire departments responded after 9 30 p m Monday to find the building engulfed in flames and a total loss. Gas and electricity were shut off. Franklin County Sheriff Craig Davis said the state Fire Marshall would investigate on Wednesday.
