Ottawa Board Adopts Parent Feedback Form
The Ottawa Board of Education approved a parent feedback form to track long term effectiveness of administrators facilities and curriculum. Getting blank surveys to parents and completed ones back may be tough and show that responses count could determine success or failure. Board member Bill Allegre praised the survey’s content and said it addresses issues directly while open ended questions explore education in Ottawa.

Interest grows in OMS purchase by local buyers
Nearly two weeks after Pioneer Group declined to buy the old Fifth and Main middle school, two local residents expressed interest. Superintendent Collins noted a Realtor letter asking the district to pause action while an offer was prepared, with another verbal inquiry. The board discussed involving city and county leaders at the March 14 joint meeting and considered options as it restarts the process. Collins said Pioneer’s contract is null and Bezek is transferring $25,000 earnest money to district funds. The USD 290 central office may move from the old city hall, with cautious signals from board members about purchasing that building. The board also voted to urge Legislature to boost school funding and approved the 2001-2002 calendar, including four snow days, while approving Valentine's Day flower deliveries to Ottawa schools on a trial basis.

Tony’s nurse and optometrist had noted vision issues, and the program aims to expand awareness and recipients through local Lions Club activities.
