Weigh Down Workshop Gains Followers in Churches Across Nation
Ottawa Church Directory notes rising Christian weight loss programs using prayer and scripture. Weigh Down Workshop led by Gwen Shamblin promotes eating to hunger and fullness, denying “bad foods.” Critics warn about mixing faith and dieting and potential medical needs. Other faith based programs like First Place and Overeaters Anonymous mirror the spiritual approach to overeating.
