Gunman kills three at Louisiana church rampage
A gunman burst into New St John Fellowship Baptist Church near Baton Rouge, killed Shon Miller's wife and son and another member, and wounded four others before being wounded by police. She married Forrest Wesley Frosty Nicewander June 3 1939 in Ottawa. She worked at several Ottawa firms and was a North Baptist Church member. Survived by daughter Jackie Clay sons David and Bradley, brother Keith Watts, sister Margie Reekie, and seven great grandchildren. Burial Highland Cemetery. Memorials to North Baptist Church care of Lamb Roberts Heise Funeral Home.

Sisters Released After Antifreeze Poisoning Case
Two sisters Chelsie and Ashley Ayres were released from Wesley Medical Center after antifreeze poisoning. Their father Donald Ayres, 29, remains jailed in Ottawa County on charges of attempted first degree murder, child abuse, and child endangerment. A custody decision awaits after their divorce in 1994. A May 3 and 4 preliminary hearing is set in Ottawa County District Court.
