Ashcroft pushes bill to study racial profiling

Attorney General John Ashcroft urged Congress to authorize a government study of how often racial profiling occurs during local traffic stops. Inspector seizes computers in Osprey aircraft probe

The Pentagon inspector general seized data from two Marine generals as part of a probe into alleged cover ups over the V-22 Osprey. The investigation began in January after a lieutenant colonel in the Osprey squadron was accused of falsifying maintenance records. The probe seeks to determine if officers were pressured to hide the aircraft’s shortcomings. The Osprey has suffered three crashes since 1992.
