State approves 50 million tax breaks for KC stadiums

A Missouri board approved 50 million dollars in tax breaks to fund renovations for the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals stadiums. The plan shifts funding away from the Legislature to the Department of Economic Development and Missouri Development Finance Board. The deal totals 575 million in project costs, with 50 million from the state and 100 million from teams and 425 million from Jackson County. Voters in April backed a 38 cent sales tax to cover local share, ensuring teams remain in Missouri for at least 25 years. Katheryn Shields emphasized state commitment to keeping teams in the state.
