State Ponders Joining Traffic Violation Co op
A Kansas Interim Transportation Committee debated joining an interstate compact for nonresident traffic violators. The draft would let officers release out of state violators after citation, with notices sent to the violator’s home state if fines aren’t paid, potentially suspending licenses. The plan, supported by Col. David Hornbaker, aims to save patrol time and boost court revenues while preserving officer discretion for serious offenses. The committee plans to review the draft July 22-23.
