Democrats Fight For 1972 Convention Site In Miami Beach and Louisville

Washington reports a Democratic National Committee contest between Miami Beach and Louisville to host the 1972 nominating convention. Both cities offer roughly 950,000 in incentives, while Chicago, Houston, and San Francisco are eliminated. The party faces a 9.3 million debt from 1968 and plans a 500 per plate dinner to raise funds as delegates, alternate delegates, and newsmen prepare for the July gathering.
