Republicans fall short on school funding reform in Kansas

Kansas Republicans failed to punish the state Supreme Court after the court ordered lawmakers to provide an extra 143 million dollars for education. The House, by 70 to 58, approved a constitutional amendment limiting the court's power, but 14 votes short of the two thirds needed for ballot placement. The Senate had approved the measure, which would have appeared on August 30 statewide elections.
