A series of small town notices include an ambulance contact, an accident in the 100 block of West 4th Street injuring two drivers, and various local incidents. Notable names include Nancy E. Whitaker, 62, and Lee Huffman, 45, with damages listed at $150 and $25 respectively.
Senator Knowland charged Indian Prime Minister Nehru with adopting a Communist viewpoint after a joint India Soviet declaration in Moscow. The California Republican said Nehru has become a broker for foreign policy, rather than remaining neutral.
Ottawa records show 31 building permits issued recently totaling 108 825 dollars for residences and garages. Harry Hartpence 53 of Princeton died at Ransom Memorial hospital after two years of ill health, survived by a large family.
R. B. Doolin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, named superintendent of the North Kansas City school district last night. A 38-year-old former assistant superintendent for special services in Cedar Rapids, he is a Missouri native who graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in 1942 and is finishing a doctoral program at the University of Missouri. He succeeds Dr. H. W. Schooling, who resigned to become associate professor of education at the University of Chicago.
Work begins Monday on a fireproof Phi Mu sorority home at Baker University replacing the Sept fire. The $110000 structure in light red brick features flat slab floors with reinforced steel, a large first floor lounge and dining room, eight second floor bedrooms, a chapter room, archives and recreation spaces. Universal Construction Co. Kansas City is general contractor. Vern er F. Smith of Lawrence is architect. Names of officers and committee members listed.
Mrs Ruth Keith of Windom Minnesota gave birth aboard an Oslo New York bound Scandinavian Airlines flight at Gander terminal. The triplets, first at Sir Frederick Banting Hospital, were healthy though unnamed. Standard Oil of Indiana donated 7500 to Ottawa University via the Kansas Private Colleges Foundation.
The funeral for Luella Downey 81 of 319 East Fourth who died June 19 at Ran som Memorial hospital was conducted June 22 at Lamb Funeral Home with Rev. Charles P. Knight presiding. Organist Mrs J R Henning played Going Home and other selections as Royal Neighbors attended in groups. Grave side rites followed at Scott Valley cemetery Miami county under Mines with pallbearers G C Fitch J L Rokes C C Adamson C E Twining A L J Graham and Harry Brink.
Funeral service for Margaret Shibe Brown age 9% years will be conducted from Towner's Funeral Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 30.
Mrs. George Britton, 28, delivered at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia with obstetrician present and hypnotist Harold Klein. The hypnotist put her to sleep before birth and kept her in that state until after delivery of a 7 pound 15 ounce girl described as spontaneous normal. Mrs. Britton reported no pain.
Ethel Green, county welfare director, announced the seventh annual institute for parents of pre school blind children to be held July 15 to 17 at the State School for the Blind in Kansas City Kansas. She noted no known preschool blind children in Franklin county and urged interested parents to attend.
Daytona Beach on Florida's east coast drew attention as vacationers explored the Ford speed trial on the beach. Public speed limits, NASCAR Century Club entries, and plans for a 2.5 million dollar super speedway are noted along with tips on gasoline cards and car care. TOPEKA Col. Tom Glass cock superintendent of the State Highway Patrol announced the provisional appointment of 15 new patrolmen effective June 30. The expansion raises patrol strength to 104 troopers and 20 drivers license examiners. Training begins July 5 at the University of Kansas with six weeks of schooling and two weeks of field work. James Fanning of Melvern is among the new hires.

Roberta McBride an Ottawa University graduate earlier this month was appointed chemist with the Kansas City office of the Department of Health Education and Welfare Food and Drug Administration. The appointment was announced by Samuel Aler chief of the Kansas City district.
Lawrence Kansas sheriff said two 16 year old Topeka youths have been cleared in the fatal shooting of their companion. They admitted plans to loot a parked car and are jailed on related larceny charges with bonds set at 3000 dollars. They described the vehicle as a 1947 or 1948 two tone green four door Buick.
Dr. John Ise, retiring University of Kansas economics professor, says he owes his students a tremendous debt. At a dinner in his honor in Kansas City last night he estimated 12,000 students spent a total of one million classroom hours listening to him during his 39 years at KU. He said he owes them a great deal.
Funeral services for Charles Harley Ivey will be conducted this afternoon at four o'clock from Lamb Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery.
