Ottawa explores higher animal control fees plan
The city faces a 2005 budget request rising to 58 000 dollars for animal services, a 13 000 increase from 2004, driven by a 28 percent rise in animals taken from Ottawa city limits in 2003. Commissioner Padgett urged reviewing other cities’ costs before approval, noting the total would exceed 90 000 dollars, twice the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce budget. Ed York was appointed to the city planning commission for a one year term, replacing Candy Wasser. The next study session is set for June 28 at City Hall, time to be announced.
