Friends of the Prairie Spirit Rail Trail will hold weekly meetings every Thursday at 7 p.m. in conference rooms B and C of Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa through July 23, ahead of a planned bicycle tour to promote the rail trail. The event aims to recruit support for the Friends and develop three Ottawa starting and ending routes while KDWP coordinates the effort and Gov Graves ties state funds to federal grant matching. Franklin County must issue a letter of support as KDWP nears construction of phase one from Richmond to Welda with completion targeted for fall 1995. phase three from Welda to Tola is planned for 1997.
