Inaugural Kansas Telecommunications Hall of Fame inductees named
Three Ottawa men were among inductees to the Kansas Telecommunications Hall of Fame. Vern Chesbro of Ottawa was honored for work with Kansas Telephone Company. Douglas Gleason, Kansas City Missouri and formerly Ottawa, recognized for efforts with the Kansas Telecommunications Association. Thomas E. Gleason, Ottawa based, served as corporate and regulatory counsel for multiple Kansas exchange companies until his death in 1992. Barb Gibson of Ottawa was named president elect of the Business and Professional Women’s Association of Kansas at the state convention in Great Bend. Other Ottawa delegates included Janis Armstrong, Linda Reed, June Butler and Donna Swearingen.
