Absolved In Death Of Woman

The 77 year old Sedalia nurse and minister Mary Frances Jones was absolved of second degree murder in the death of 80 year old Mrs. Odie O Day in Kansas City. Magistrate Blackburn called the case highly speculative and said no binding over for trial was justified. Mrs. Jones had cared for Mrs. O Day and a scuffle involving a neighbor preceded the death. Pathologist Kealhofer testified the death resulted from natural aging with the heart condition noted on the death certificate. Jones, held on bond, had been at Fulton for observation before being discharged. She maintained her innocence.
