Long Career For Byron Yates Ends
A retirement party in Raton New Mexico marks the close of Byron Yates 44 years with Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company Exchange as retiring manager of the Albuquerque exchange. He will be honored by company officials from Albuquerque and Denver. Yates, a former Ottawa resident, married Alice Horne in 1913 and has two children Byron Yates Jr in Albuquerque and Evamae Whiffen in Austin. He plans to live in Raton and pursue hunting fishing and woodworking in retirement. He is a brother of Fred Yates, a longtime Southwestern Bell wire chief.
