Ottawa firms miss tax increase notices outraged
Ottawa business owners report not receiving July sales tax increase notices from the Kansas Department of Revenue. The statewide rate rises to 5.3 percent, plus county and city totals push Ottawa’s rate to 7.4 percent. Ottawa Paint Company and Drake Jewelry owners say they learned of the change from others and fear paying the difference. Department official says notices will be mailed Monday to all remaining firms to align filings.
