Drifter wanted in Utah kidnapping captured in West Virginia
Bret Edmunds, 26, sought in the June 5 abduction of 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart, was captured at a Martinsburg hospital after checking in under a false name amid alleged drug related liver failure. He remained in serious condition in intensive care as authorities planned to question him and search his vehicle.

GOP prescription drug plan heads to House vote
The Energy and Commerce Committee approved a Republican led bill to create a Medicare prescription drug benefit for seniors with premiums around 35 dollars a month and a 250 dollar yearly deductible. The plan would cover 80 percent of the first 1000 dollars and 50 percent of the next 1000, with out of pocket caps and a 3700 dollar limit in one version. Debate is set for next week as Democrats push a larger 800 billion proposal and Senate action before the August recess.
