U.S. Clarifies Terms for Suspending Atomic Tests
Washington officials clarified that the United States would suspend atomic tests only as part of a first step disarmament deal that also halts production of nuclear weapons. President Eisenhower had suggested a possible shift in policy after comments at a news conference, but the White House said there was no change in policy and tests could not be suspended in isolation. The president said the Soviet moratorium proposal should be studied, noting the need for details to see how it would work.

John Leod Wilson of Ottawa received the Doctor of Education at Indiana University Bloomington during the 128th annual commencement on June 10. A red English-type bicycle was found at 936 S Cedar and identified by police as Nathaniel Adejunmobi of Ottawa University. A small bag with about $50 worth of radio and telephone repair tools was reported lost between 6 and 7 am. a passing tourist returned it to police later that day.

Lightning Kills Two Guardsmen at Fort Bragg
At Fort Bragg North Carolina lightning struck twice within ten minutes killing Sgt J C Walter Lee Milan 26 and Pfc Arthur Belton Norris Jr 19 both of Kannapolis as 8000 National Guard troops camped for summer training suffered 48 injuries. Brush Fire Near Corona Forces Evacuations
A brush fire in southern Riverside County roared out of control near Dawson Canyon and Gavilan Hills, threatening cabins and homes.
