Handwriting expert disputes 1964 will in Nelson estate case
Charles Scott testified that the 1964 will signature appears drawn rather than written by J E Nelson, while the 1963 will and 17 checks show differing handwriting. Mrs. Martin, who typed the will, said Nelson cried over his sisters' requests to sign papers before an attorney advised none was needed. The court admitted the first will leaving the estate to Nelson's sisters, denying the 1964 will. The estate is valued at about $100,000 with real estate around $75,000 and personal property about $25,000.

Topeka council to study tornado damage and plans
Lt Governor Crutcher says the Legislative Council will meet June 27 to review post tornado issues in Topeka. Gov Avery requests focus on three problems: land acquisition south of the statehouse, state printing plant plans, and state health department laboratories relocation. The printing plant may be discontinued but requires a constitutional amendment. The health lab, damaged beyond repair, must be relocated temporarily. The meeting does not preclude a possible special session.
