Scouts' rough road trip ends near Colorado line
Twenty Boy Scouts from Troop 127 led by Donald C. Hay set out from Ottawa June 5 toward the Colorado Rockies. A failing old bus caused three transmission breakdowns, forcing them to reroute, camp at Garden City, and later limp home. Hay remains optimistic, seeking parts and a bell housing to reschedule a Colorado adventure and even dream of a Canada trip next year.
